I am a furry artist known for my feral artwork. I've been drawing for the furry fandom since 2007, and started taking commissions in 2010. Feral furries are a sub-community of the furry fandom; while under the umbrella of anthropomorphized animals, ferals are characterized by retaining their original animal body shape. Sometimes ferals are referred to as "quads" as a shortened form of "quadrupedal," but some animals, such as birds and kangaroos, are naturally bipedal. The feral community is just as diverse as the rest of the furry fandom, with a huge spectrum of species, character backgrounds, and degree of anthropomorphized behavior. Some feral characters live in houses and go to work, while others live in dens or nests. People who consider themselves part of the feral community often have a closeness to nature, a strong passion for activism, and sense of justice.

My name in the fandom is Nighty. It is a name I was affectionately given based off of my original user name "NightAbsol." Later on, I started a side account under the alias Paper Wings in reference to my character "Independence." That alias became what most know me by, so I developed it into my business name. In 2017, partially to help reduce confusion and partially as a soul searching endeavor, I changed my main character to a grizzly bear named Nighty.

I used to represent myself as a white wolf with no distinctive markings, with big feathered wings. She didn't have a name at the time. When I went through my first breakup, I expressed my heartbreak through artwork of my wings being torn off. I had a small timber wolf finger puppet that comforted me. I ripped up some drawing paper to give it wings. It struck me with inspiration to do the same to my character, to show her healing -- so she replaced her missing feathered wings with fake paper ones. I also took the markings from this little plush and applied it to my character, which has since remained the same, other than changing the muzzle marking to a point. She would never be quite the same after losing her wings, she was forever changed by her experience, and could never fly again. I decided to keep this symbolism permanently, similar to a scar. Our experiences and hardships affect us and shape us into who we are. When I learned how to be kinder to myself and not rely on my partner for my self worth, she was given her name Independence.
